"Questioning is the hardest part of the way"
Hey! Hope you’re doing well! I am happy to see you again in my newsletter!
Before we will drown in a flow of events that has happened to me, you have to answer super short question.
Who are you?
Did it take one word, or your mind could not choose between billions of words that exist?
The second variant hit me, and this month I spent questioning myself and trying to figure out, which answer would define me the best. Sometimes, I feel that this response will depend on my whole life.
And the thing is that there are so many questions in life, we would have a hard time getting the “right” answer.
So to come up with an idea of what we should do in such a situation, let’s imagine that you are all alone in a city, you have never been to. Would you blame yourself that you don’t know all the roads in this city and easily surrender when get lost in a dark street in the end? Or would you instead of whining due to your “unpleasant destiny”, use a GPS to find a way to the hotel you were looking for? I can assume, we would select the option with GPS. Reflecting on this situation, a clear image appears. Such an unknown city would be a fear zone; many roads and turns are “process of questioning”; surrender - “unsatisfaction and despair by not having the evident answer”. And what is GPS? I suggest renaming it in this case from Global Positioning System to Great People’s Supporter. It’s going to be everything that actually encourages you and not lets you fall while facing a “bad time”: your self-esteem, interest, passion, friends, family, favorite music piece, moral values, faith, whatever you think, truly helps.
Hence I forced myself to stop this race where the main reward is this “right” answer and to accept the importance of this fear zone in our life (it will eventually extend the comfort zone) even when you feel only bare uncertainty there. Questioning is a normal and essential part of growth, but you should never blame yourself when you are having a hard time answering, it’s sometimes inevitable. It is much better to emphasize being present; taking the opportunities we receive every day; working hard; building strong and supportive relationships with ourselves and others.
And I am really happy that no matter what the answer (s) is(are) going to be at the very end, thanks to TKS and the people I am surrounded by, I will undoubtedly pursue my interests, using invaluable mindsets, like courage, boss mentality, appreciation and many many more. Moreover, earlier the fact of uncertainty intimidate me, but now instead of having an unbearable feeling of the questions suffocating me, I take the ability of our life to change and have lots of paths that you can or cannot control.
But I think, we can control way more.
Okay okay, I just wanted to share some ideas that my mind thoroughly worked on. Let’s finally stop with all of these paradigms and get back on earth, my head is also going to explode, don’t worry.
The next episode of my way in TKS
Hard to believe, but it’s been 9 weeks as TKS started!
In a nutshell, my daily routine as a TKS innovate student, flourishes. A few weeks ago I finally started with my focus, and currently, I am in a phase “learn article”. Indeed, in my opinion, the main obstacle that appeared my way was conjuring my brain to start, it’s what is called the “fear of blank pages". In reality, I postponed a lot in getting to my first draft of the article, and that is often a pretty common cause of motivation lack, from my own experience. The thing that inspirited me to put my hands on the keyboard is TKS peers, I’ve read many articles by other students and alumni before I started. Thus for those who are cowed (like me) at the start, don’t worry, it’s commonly considered as the hardest part of the process. Here is a good to seal in memory the phrase I heard during TKS session: Action triggers motivation, not the other way round.
Two weeks ago was my first hachathon ever!!
I got an opportunity to work with an amazing team!
Our team decided to pick a topic related to healthcare. In short, our idea was to ease the detection of an individual having Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's is difficult to diagnose, especially in its early stages due to absence of the specific tests for it. Moreover, symptoms can vary because of the sex or previous medical history of the patient and their other illnesses have similar symptoms, which means misdiagnoses can occur. Keeping this in mind our solution was a creation of a web application that uses supervised machine learning to ease the detection through voice fluctuation analysis since we found that there is a dependence on voice fluctuations that we can apply to this problem.
Takeaways:
When you work within a certain timeframe, you need a careful plan. When you feel it won’t work, apply flexibility and prioritization.
You will love brainstorming when you learn to eliminate every good idea and leave the only top.
How cool an idea might seem to you, presentation is a key to convincing the other.
Be passion and enjoy what you're doing. Don't do it because it has to be done, but because you want it to be done.
Meet my new family member!
Maybe she looks like a piece of purity, but trust me, she is not. We took her only one week ago, and I’m already full of scratches and bites. But how could we resist this cute baby face?
This small kitten fell into the sewerage and got stuck there. Hopefully, some people helped her. And when my family found out about it, we decided to create a company for our veryy calm cat and dog in form of a small hyperactive kitten.
Books I’m currently reading:
Homo Deus by Yuval Noah Harari (4/5 so far. The author did outstanding work to create a guide to the possible outcomes, our society and the world we live in might lead us to.)
Wolf Hall by Hilary Mante
Hope you enjoyed reading! See you in a month!!
